Air Freight Co-ordinator

About the role
We are looking for an Air Freight Coordinator to join our air export team in either Bradford or Manchester.
This is a start to finish role with real ownership. You will manage the day to day service delivery to your air export customers and agents, process export documents, create and submit customs export declarations, and take responsibility for gross profit analysis, sales invoicing and job costing accuracy on your own files.
Customs compliance sits with you. You will make sure HMRC export and import entry regulations are met through self auditing, take HMRC queries through to resolution while minimising duty and tax liability, and support internal customs audits and the analysis that comes out of them.
You will need at least two years of relevant experience and solid HMRC export customs procedural knowledge. In return you get your own client portfolio, the commercial visibility to see the result of doing the job well, and a team that will back you.
What you will be doing
Air export operations
Take day to day responsibility for customer service delivery to air export customers and agents
Manage emails and the procedural workflows of consignments
Process export documents and create and submit customs export declarations
Follow up and resolve operational issues and customer service concerns raised by clients
Issue monthly client reports through ASM and BoxTop
Customs compliance
Ensure all HMRC export and import entry regulations are met through self auditing
Ensure the accuracy of export and import entry declarations through self auditing
Process HMRC queries through to resolution and closure, minimising duty and tax liability
Support internal customs audits and assessments, and analyse the data those produce
Commercial ownership
Take responsibility for gross profit analysis, sales invoicing and job costing accuracy
Promote business development by following up opportunities within existing accounts through telephone sales, prospect follow up and quotations
Keep up to date with market trends and with Mapcargo products, services and news
Implementation and improvement
Manage implementation for new business
Identify areas for operational improvement by reviewing processes regularly
Contribute to ongoing operational development and cost saving measures
Fully document your clients' business processes and requirements
Establish and maintain strong relationships internally and externally
What we are looking for
A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar air freight or customs role
HMRC export customs procedural knowledge
Excellent communication and organisational skills
A polite, confident, mature and professional manner
Confidence with computers, including Excel, CRM systems and BoxTop
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with an action orientated approach to problem solving
Genuine enjoyment of working with customers and building relationships
The ability to work well in a target driven environment
